The Vienna Internet eXchange
The Vienna Internet eXchange (VIX) has been operated by the Vienna University Computer Center since 1996. It is a neutral peering infrastructure for National Research & Education Networks (NRENs), Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Content Providers and Content Delivery Networks in Austria and the Central and Eastern European Region for the exchange of Internet traffic at the national and international level.
This case study covers the importance of community and technical networking for the Vienna internet eXchange. They were looking to open a second data centre with services for the Vienna internet eXchange and second core location for the austria research center. Community is necessary for customers to find fielding partners. They found both in Interxion.
